Dr Hüsnü Gerengi is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Duzce University in Turkey. He is the representative member of his country in the International Corrosion Council (ICC) http://icc-net.org/index.php/team_member/turkey/ since 2015. His expertise and focus are on corrosion and corrosion control, corrosion resistant materials, corrosion inhibitors - principles and mechanisms. He is the first researcher to use the Dynamic Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (DEIS) method in corrosion inhibitor studies. He studies the long-term evolution of impedance in a corrosion cell as an inhibitor is added. This technique allows him to quantify and qualify the effectiveness of inhibitors and coatings. In addition to corrosion, his research interests include plastics materials technology, rubber materials technology and plastics and rubber additives. His dynamic and well-equipped laboratory is currently a knowledge and research centre for many post-doctoral researchers, doctoral students, masters and undergraduate students. Corrosion resistant steels, Al, Cu and brass alloys, Mg based bioresorbable medical implants and corrosion resistant construction materials are some of the ongoing research topics in his laboratory. He has given numerous invited lectures at many national and international conferences and has authored more than 75 SCI scientific papers in high impact journals. He has seven current patents based on boron-doped corrosion inhibitors. (http://www.husnugerengi.com.tr/ )
