He is from Edirne. He graduated from Edirne İlhami Ertem High school. He studied Tourism and Hotel Management at Eastern Mediterranean University from 1997 to 2001. After graduation, he started work as a part-time instructor at Trakya University. In 2002, he worked as an advisor to the governor of Edirne and as a full-time instructor at Trakya University. He completed his MBA at Beykent University in 2014. In 2015, he started working as Edirne Municipality Tourism Consultant and continues to this day.

He is the author of the book “Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling” which is currently sold on Amazon Books. Edirne Jewish Cuisine, also written by Aydemir Ay - Yılmaz Seçim, was awarded the World's Best Cookbook by the Gourmand Cookbook Award. The book translated into 4 languages Hebrew, Ladino, English, and Turkish. Edirne Palace Festivals and Cuisine, also written by Aydemir Ay and Sedat Kocadoğan, is one of the only books in the field "The book examines the 1457 II. Mehmed Edirne Festival and 1675 IV. Mehmed Edirne Festival". Aydemir Ay is still a doctoral candidate in Tourism Management Department at Trakya University, Edirne.

He has been a consultant for many hotels, tourism agencies, and food, and beverage establishments. Furthermore, he writes promotional and tourism books in English do academic research, and writes articles about Edirne. His special interests are tourism, tourists and local public perception, cross-border tourism, the history of Edirne, gastronomy of Edirne, minority cultures, the history of Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling, decreasing poverty, education for and economic strengthening of low-income groups.
