Journal Policy

Journal of Innovations in Civil Engineering and Technology (JICivilTech) was started its publication life in 2019. It is published by Afyon Kocatepe University, Faculty of Engineering, Civil Engineering Department faculty members. JICivilTech is a refereed electronic journal that includes original scientific articles in the fields of civil engineering, architecture, civil engineering measurements, and environmental engineering. JICivilTech was included in DergiPark in 2019. It is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that will be published twice a year (end of the June and December).  The journal has no article submission fee and an open access policy was adopted. The journal accepts scientific articles in English and Turkish languages ​​through the journal park system.


In the Journal of Innovations in Civil Engineering and Technology Journal (JICivilTech), only research articles that reflect original research findings and results are published.


Plagiarism Control

All articles in the application process in "Journal of Innovations in Civil Engineering and Technology" are evaluated after the Plagiarism Detection Program iThenticate. The similarity rate criterion is 25%. The similarity rate in a single source should not exceed 5%. As a result of the preliminary evaluation, the candidate article that is not evaluated is sent to the author (s) again for the necessary corrections.

The submitted manuscript must not have been previously published and submitted to any journal for evaluation.
The submission file must be in Microsoft Word 2010 and later, document file format.
Where available, URLs for references should be provided.
Manuscripts should be prepared according to the journal writing rules specified in the text writing guide.
When submitting an article to a journal section where the articles that pass the referee review are published, the Blind Referee link's instructions are applied.
Authors in the first format submitted to the journal cannot be added/removed afterward.

Blind Reviewing Process

Journal of Innovations in Civil Engineering and Technology is a peer-reviewed academic journal that is published twice a year, subjected to double-blind reviewing of the submitted articles by authors and original research articles are published.

 

At least two reviewers are appointed by the editor (s) according to the content of the studies and the expertise of the referees for the review of the publications. Reviewers must have a doctoral degree. All referee evaluation reports are sent electronically, anonymously. The names of the reviewers who make the evaluation are not mentioned in the reports and the journal due to the double-blind method. However, a letter of appreciation is sent to the reviewers after their evaluation.

Blind peer review processes directly affect the quality of academic publications. The evaluation process is carried out on the principle of double-blind review. Reviewers cannot contact the authors directly, evaluation and reviewers reports are submitted through the Dergipark management system. In this process, evaluation forms and reviewer reports are sent to the author (s) through the editor. The double-blind reviewing process is helped editors make decisions in dialogue with authors. At the same time, authors also have the opportunity to improve their work by obtaining important information about their work.


Decision Process

Articles submitted to the Journal of Innovations in Civil Engineering and Technology are taken to the preliminary evaluation stage, where the suitability of the template, additional files and similarity ratio are checked. Articles that pass this stage are assigned a field editor according to the subject area. The field editor appoints two referees from different institutions, suitable for the subject area. If both referees decide that it can be accepted as is or can be published after corrections, the acceptance of the article is made after the evaluation of the field editor. When the referees want to see the article again after the revision, the article corrected by the author(s) is sent to the requesting referees as a second round evaluation. The article, which is approved by both referees at the end of all evaluation processes, is accepted after the evaluation of the field editor. In the event of a referee's refusal, the field editor appoints a third referee. The article that receives two rejections in total is rejected by the field editor. After the article is accepted for acceptance, it is sent to Turkish and English language corrections, source controls are carried out. These processes are carried out together with the author(s). After the author(s) completes the editing process, the page number is given to the article and its layout is done. After the layout is sent to the author(s) for final reading.

Privacy

Studies sent to referees for evaluation should be considered confidential. Studies should not be shown to others and their content should not be discussed. When necessary, referees may seek advice from other colleagues, with the permission of the Editor-in-Chief. The Editor-in-Chief may grant this permission only in exceptional circumstances. The privacy rule also includes people who refuse to act as reviewer.


Impartiality Principle

No personal criticism should be made towards the authors during the evaluation process. Evaluations should be made objectively and in a way that contributes to the development of the studies.

Specifying a Reference

The reviewers are obliged to inform the authors if there are citations that are not cited in the study. Reviewers should pay particular attention to works that are not cited in the field or citations that overlap with similar works. Reviewers should inform editors if publications that are similar to any previously published work or information are noticed.


Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest


If the referees have any collaborative connections with any author, company, or institution they have been charged with reviewing their work, they should not agree to act as a reviewer and should notify the editors of the situation.


Reviewers cannot use unpublished works or parts of the works submitted for evaluation in their own studies without the written consent of the author (s). Information and ideas obtained during evaluation must be kept confidential by the reviewers and not used for their own benefit. These rules also include people who do not accept the role of reviewer.
