Yıl 2020, Cilt: 7 Sayı: 4, 245 - 251, 01.12.2020

The study of colon cancer patients, to determine the prevalence of premorbid dietary fiber consumption and colon cancer was conducted to investigate the relationship. Working in the January-September 2013, between 65 hospitalized patients with colon cancer, 65 healthy adults was conducted on a total of 130 individuals. Of cases related to demographics and frequency of food consumption data were obtained with a preprepared questionnaire. Weight and height were measured. Body mass index was calculated. The mean age of patients with colon cancer was 48 ± 2.4 in the control group was 37 ± 3.6 years. Body mass index, colon cancer and obesity rates among individuals in the control group, respectively: 50.6%, 29.3%, respectively. Among patients with colon cancer, obesity, weakness rate was higher in the control group. Dried leguminous vegetables of patients with colon cancer more frequently than in the control group, whereas vegetables, fruits and oil seeds are consumed less frequently observed (p<0.05). 25-35 g/day recommended for protection from colon cancer to meet the requirements of the fibers, fiber-rich foods more often for it to be consumed and supported by the results of more extensive studies were considered to be useful.
