Probiyotikler

Probiotics are
live microorganisms which when administered in adequate amounts confer a health
benefit on the host. These microorganisms are known to provide beneficial
health effects by competing with pathogens, providing epithelial cell stability
and showing regulatory effects on the immune system. They provide
immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, antioxidant effects with
their released metabolites, produced molecules and cell structure components.
Effector molecules of probiotics such as peptidoglycan, teichoic acid,
lipoteichoic acid, cell surface polysaccharides, secreted proteins and surface
proteins are recognized by innate immunity receptors and activate the immune
system. The mechanisms of some effector molecules of probiotics have been
elucidated. The aim of this review is to give information on the effects of
probiotics and their active molecules known to be used for probiotic-host
interactions.
