The Investigation of Mutagenic Effect of Cinamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) By Ames Test

Year 2015, Volume: 8 Issue: 2, 23 - 27, 01.12.2015

Abstract

Today in the world the essential oils have a wide area of usage from cosmetics and perfume, industry to food and pharmaceutical industry. Knowing the wide usage area of mutagenic and antimutagenic effect of this kind of plant may have crucial importance in the treatment of a variety of illnesses and cancer. In this study, the mutagenic effect of the essential oil which is obtained from cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) has been investigated. Aiming this, in this experiment Ames mutagenite test, which is widely used, has been applied. Various doses of oil’s mutegenic effect have been investigated in the TA98 and TA100 strains of Salmonella typhimirium. As a result it is appointed that TA98 strain of Salmonella typhimirium shows toxic in14 μg/ml and TA100 strain of Salmonella typhimirium shows low mutagenic effect in 4 ve 2 μg/ml

Tarçının (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) Ames Testi ile Mutajenik Etkisinin Araştırılması

Year 2015, Volume: 8 Issue: 2, 23 - 27, 01.12.2015
