The effect of student satisfaction on institutional commitment: a case of vocational school in Ankara
Abstract
In this
study, it was aimed to measure and evaluate the effect of the satisfaction
levels of students as to the institution where they are students over their
loyalty to their institutions. This descriptive and relational survey model was
applied to a total of 651 university students studying at a vocational school
of a foundation/private university in Ankara. In the comparison with T-test, in
Student Satisfaction Scale, a significant difference was found to exist between
men and women in terms of their Physical Characteristics, Support Services
offered and Image Perception. A significant difference was found between
freshmen and sophomore students in terms of their satisfaction and loyalty
scores. While their commitment to the school environment is regarded as the
sub-dimension that provides the least impact on the loyalty of students to
their institutions, the School Administration seems to have the most influence.
When the correlation values of Student Satisfaction, School Loyalty and
sub-dimensions were altogether examined, a moderate positive relationship has
been found to exist between student satisfaction and institutional commitment.
According to the results of multiple regression analysis, carried out to
measure the effect of the sub-dimensions of student satisfaction, which is
itself an independent variable, and also to anticipate the sub-dimensions of
student commitment, which is a dependent variable; sub-dimension variables of
student satisfaction, account for the 25.9% of the total variance of school
teacher engagement relationship. In light of the results obtained in the study,
it is thought that the suggestions here might contribute to an increase in the
school commitment levels of the students.

Öğrenci memnuniyet derecesinin kurum bağlılığına olan etkisi: Ankara’da bir meslek yüksekokulu örneği
Abstract
Bu çalışmayla öğrencilerin öğrenim gördükleri kurumdan memnuniyet
derecelerinin kurumlarına olan bağlılığa etkisini ölçmek ve değerlendirilmek
istenmiştir. Betimsel ve ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılarak gerçekleştirilen
bu araştırma Ankara’daki bir vakıf üniversitesine bağlı Meslek Yüksekokulunda
öğrenim gören toplam 651 üniversite öğrencisine uygulanmıştır. T-testi ile
yapılan karşılaştırmada erkekler ile kadınlar arasında Öğrenci Memnuniyet
Ölçeğinin; Fiziksel Özellikler, Destek Hizmetler ve İmaj alt boyutlarında
anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. Memnuniyet ile Sadakat puan ortalamaları
açısından 1. sınıf ve 2. Sınıf öğrenciler arasında anlamlı bir fark tespit
edilmiştir. Öğrencilerin kurumlarına bağlılığına en az etki sağlayan Okul
Ortamına Bağlılık ilişkisi alt boyutu iken, en fazla etkiyi Okul Yönetimi
Bağlılık İlişkisi sağlamaktadır. Öğrenci Memnuniyeti,
Okul Bağlılığı ve alt boyutlarının birbiriyle olan korelasyon değerlerine
bakıldığında öğrenci memnuniyeti ve kurum bağlılığı arasında orta düzeyde
pozitif yönde bir ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bağımsız değişken olan öğrenci
memnuniyetinin alt boyutlarının, bağımlı değişken öğrenci okul bağlılığının alt
boyutlarını yordama etkisini ölçmek için yapılan çoklu regresyon analizi sonucunda
elde edilen sonuçlara göre; öğrenci memnuniyetinin alt boyut değişkenleri, okul
öğretmen bağlılık ilişkisi toplam varyansının %25,9’ünü açıkladığı sonucuna
ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen sonuçlar ışığında getirilecek önerilerle
öğrencilerin okul bağlılık düzeylerinin artmasına fayda sağlayacağı
düşünülmektedir.
