In the control applications, temperature control systems are very important role. In this study, a temperature control system realized by inexpensive and easily provided materials was designed and tested. In the temperature control system, it was used lamp and fan for heating and cooling of process room. The Arduino Uno micro-controller board was selected to drive the heating and cooling outputs of the control system and measuring the process room temperature. The micro-controller was connected to the computer via the serial communication terminal and controlled by an interface prepared in the LabVIEW (Laboratory Virtual Instrument Electronic Workbench) platform. The data received from the firmware operated on the micro-controller was displayed on the interface and the reference value of process room, control method and controller parameters entered by the user were sent to the firmware. Using the black-box modelling method, the temperature control system was modeled as a first-order time delayed system, and the On−Off and Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controllers were applied to the system. PID controller parameters were determined using the Zeigler−Nichols method according to the model parameters. The heating and cooling tests were carried out with On−Off and PID controllers. It was seen that the process room temperature can be controlled by about 1 °C oscillation around the desired temperature.
