Abstract

Generation Z individuals have started to take part in scientific studies with their entry into business life. These individuals, whose differences from previous generations are obvious, appear professionally in sports as well. The relationships of this generation members, whose positions in sports life are generally athletes, with their coaches play an important role in their success. Although the studies on leadership in sports have been studied in large numbers on the generations that have come to the present, it is noteworthy that the studies on the Z generation athletes are very few in number.
The aim of this compilation study is to reveal the expectations of the Z generation athletes for their coaches, which they adopt as leaders. For this purpose, a literature review was conducted and the findings were presented in the study. When we look at the researches of the Z generation and their expectations about sports, it has been determined that the studies carried out are very few. The results of the studies on this subject are not enough to fully explain the expectations of the Z generation. It has been determined that the Z generation has unique features, these features have started to emerge with the studies, and when the studies are examined, it has been determined that they have different leadership expectations from other generations. Although the studies conducted are few, it has been determined that there are some common results. These common points are; Athletes in the Z generation can be listed as they want a coach who has strong communication skills, is affectionate and compassionate, has a calm structure, creates a team identity, and makes decisions with his athletes while motivating his team. It is thought that the results of the study are important for the success of these athletes, who are now more involved in professional life.

Z Kuşağı Sporcularının Antrenörlerine İlişkin Liderlik Beklentilerine Genel Bir Bakış: Kuramsal Çerçeve

Year 2022, Volume: 5 Issue: 2, 348 - 359, 30.12.2022
