DVD-SNO® Takviye Edici Gıda Ürününün Sıçanlarda Akut Sub-akut Toksisitesinin Araştırılması

Year 2020, Volume: 2 Issue: 3, 51 - 58, 31.12.2020

Abstract

Investigation of Acute Sub-acute Toxicity of DVD-SNO® Supplement Food Product in Rats

Year 2020, Volume: 2 Issue: 3, 51 - 58, 31.12.2020

Abstract

Unconscious use of traditionally used medicinal plants can cause some complications. A detailed investigation of the toxicity tests of plants is important in terms of determining the possible effects of herbal products, and adjusting the appropriate dose in the production of supplements. DVD-SNO® is a herbal food supplement prepared with the combination of thistle seeds (Silybum marianum), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), turmeric (Curcuma longa), fumitory (Fumaria officinalis), chicory (Cichorium intybus) and plantain (Plantago major) plants. These herbs, which are contained in DVD-SNO®, are commonly used in combination or separately and are considered to be beneficial for health. In this study, it was aimed to determine the acute and sub-acute toxicity of DVD-SNO® product used in Remember Regeneration Therapy Method (RTM). Eight months old Wistar female rats weighing 250-300 g were used in the experimental groups. The study was designed using international test standards ISO 10993-11, ISO 10993-2 and ISO 10993-12. Saline was given to the control group and 13.3 mg / mL DVD-SNO® supplement food product via gavage. At the end of the treatment period (1 day for acute toxicity and 7 days for sub-acute toxicity, 14 days for post sub-acute toxicity) blood and tissue samples were collected from the animals. Blood samples were analyzed for biochemical and hematological parameters. Histopathology of the heart, liver, lung, kidney and spleen tissues has been investigated. It was observed that there was no significant difference between the control and administration groups in terms of all parameters examined, acute and sub-acute toxicity. As a result, in this study on rats, the daily use dose of DVD-SNO® product did not show acute and sub-acute toxicity.
