Ekolojik Ayak İzi ve Turizm Büyümesi Panel Nedensellik İlişkisi

Abstract

Turizm endüstrisi günümüzde hızla büyüyen ve ülke ekonomileri açısından büyük önem taşıyan bir endüstridir. Turizmin olumlu birçok etkisinin yanında olumsuz etkileri de bulunmaktadır. Büyümeye bağlı olarak daha fazla turist turizm faaliyetlerine katılım sağlamaktadır. Bu durum da turizmin çevreye olan olumsuz etkilerini artırabilmektedir. Buradan hareketle çalışmada çevresel bozulma göstergesi olan ekolojik ayak izi ile turizm büyümesi arasındaki nedensellik ilişkisi incelenmiştir. Bu doğrultuda 2020 verilerine göre Dünyada en fazla turist çeken ilk 10 ülkenin 1995-2018 dönemine ait verileri kullanılmıştır. Gerçekleştirilen nedensellik analizi sonuçlarına göre ekolojik ayak izi (ECP) ile turist sayısı (LnTS) arasında çift yönlü nedensellik ilişkisinin var olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Dolayısıyla turizm büyümesinin çevre bozulmasına etki ettiğini söylemek mümkündür. Bu etkinin azaltılması adına sürdürülebilir turizm, sürdürülebilir kalkınma oluşturulacak olan politikaların temelinde olması önem arz etmektedir.
