Bir Güvercin Sürüsünde Aspergillus fumigatus Enfeksiyonu

Year 2015, Volume: 12 Issue: 2, 147 - 152, 01.08.2015

Abstract

Aspergillus fumigatus Infection in a Pigeon Flock

Year 2015, Volume: 12 Issue: 2, 147 - 152, 01.08.2015

Abstract

In this study, Aspergillus fumigatus infection in a flock of near 80 pigeons, was described in terms
of clinical, microbiological and histopathological aspects. At the clinical examinations were determined inappetance,
green watery diarrhea, vomiting, weakness, lethargy, dyspnea, seromucous discharge from nostrils and
death. The lungs showed multiple pinhead- size yellowish to grayish nodules at the necropsy examinations of
pigeons. Histology demonstrated hyphae characteristic of Aspergillus was recovered as Aspergillus fumigatus in
microbiological examination of culture. The clinical symptoms have been observed to improve by adding nystatin
(Mikostatin® oral suspension 100.000 IU/ml, Bristol-Myers squibb) to drinking water at 500.000 IU/L doses, twice
in 15 days except for 3 days.
