Abstract
This article has been written in order to make an evaluation of the scientists based on their profiles who are working in Turkey in the fields of entomology, acarology and nematology. Information gathered from other scientists, relatives, colleagues and otherwise authorized persons from institutions have been evaluated along with records from literature. As a result, in a 111-year time span between 1900-2011, it was found out that there were 650 scientists in Turkey who had worked and had been specialized in the abovementioned three fields of science. Of these, 566 (87.08%) worked in the field of entomology, 40 (6.15%) worked in the field of nematology and 14 (2.15%) worked in the field of acarology. The number of those who had worked in more than one field was 30 (4.16%). 187 (28.77%) of them were female and 463 (71.23%) were male. It is known that 473 of them (72.77%) are living and 93 (14.31%) are dead. No record has been found on 84 (12.92%) of them whether they are still living or not. Those who were graduated from Faculties of Agriculture were 484 (74.46%) and were followed by 128 (19.69%) Faculties of Science and Faculties of Education graduates, 36 (5.54%) Faculties of Forestry graduates and 2 graduates from Faculties of Fishery. Additional evaluations were made by the foreign languages they spoke; distribution according to titles for those who had worked in universities; status of active researchers by decades; distribution by area of work and by plant groups they worked on; number of books written and total number of publications produced. The results were interpreted and suggestions were made for the future.

Abstract
Türkiye’de entomoloji, akaroloji ve nematoloji alanlarında çalışan bilim insanlarının özgeçmişlerine dayalı bir değerlendirme yapılması amacıyla bu makale hazırlanmıştır. Bilim insanları, yakınları, çalışma arkadaşları ve kurum yetkililerinden sağlanan bilgiler ile literatür kayıtları değerlendirilmiştir. Bunun sonucunda 1900-2011 yıllarını kapsayan 111 yıllık dönemde, Türkiye’de bu üç bilim alanıyla ilgili çalışma yürüten ve uzmanlık sahibi bilim insanı sayısının 650 olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Bunların 566’sı (% 87.08) entomoloji, 40’ı (% 6.15) nematoloji ve 14’ü (% 2.15) de akaroloji konusunda çalışmıştır. Her iki ya da üç alanla ilgili çalışma yürütenler ise 30 kişidir (% 4.16). Bunların 187’si (% 28.77) bayan ve 463’ü (% 71.23) erkektir. 473’ünün (% 72.77) yaşadığı, 93’ünün (% 14.31) öldüğü bilinmekte olup, 84’ünün (% 12.92) hayatta olup olmadığı yönünde bir kayıt bulunamamıştır. Bu bilim insanlarından Ziraat Fakülteleri’ni bitirenlerin 484 kişi (% 74.46) olduğu ve bunu Fen Fakülteleri ve Eğitim Fakülteleri’nin 128 kişi (%19.69); Orman Fakülteleri’nin 36 kişi (% 5.54) ve Su Ürünleri Fakülteleri’nin 2 kişi (% 0.30) ile izlediği anlaşılmıştır. Bu değerlendirmelerin dışında bildikleri yabancı diller; üniversitede görev yapanların ünvanlarına göre dağılımı; onar yıllık dönemlerde aktif araştırıcı sayılarının durumu; çalışma alanlarına ve üzerinde çalışılan bitki gruplarına göre dağılımı; yazılan kitap sayısına ve üretilen toplam yayın sayısına göre de değerlendirmeler yapılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar yorumlanarak geleceğe yönelik öneriler verilmiştir.
