This study was conducted to assess the level of knowledge of primiparous and multiparous pregnant women about screening tests.
The population of the study was women who applied to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Outpatient Clinic of a state hospital between 05.02.2022-05.03.2022. A total of 328 pregnant women (Primipar: 164, Multipar: 164) were included in the study. Data were collected with a total of 49 questions using the "Personal Information Form" and "Information Form on Screening Tests of Pregnant Women" created by the researchers.
The mean age of the pregnant women was 28.15±0.30 years (min:18-max:41). In the study, primiparous and multiparous pregnant women were found to be significant predictors of having tests for infectious diseases during pregnancy, their level of knowledge about double and triple screening, and the number of USGs performed during pregnancy (p < 0.05).
Our study shows that primiparous pregnant women have more knowledge than multiparous pregnant women and they have more awareness especially about triple screening. Midwives working in primary care should have up-to-date information about chromosomal anomalies, screening tests and the timing of these tests and provide detailed information to pregnant women.
