Abstract

Abstract

The national factors are the key determinants in the scientific development of a community. This study aims to analyse the position of Turkey within the international tourism research through its articles indexed in SSCI. In this context, the study determines 330 articles published between 1989-2019 and analyses using relational and evaluative bibliometric parameters. The important results of this study are the tourism articles addressed to Turkey and indexed in SSCI have been in an increase since 2016. Approximately half of the articles were published by two institutions and 10 researchers from Turkey. Co-authorship with researchers in foreign institutions within 120 articles points out the significant role of international collaboration. In addition, the mostly used keywords were Turkey, hotel, hospitality, management and human resources. Finally, 75 per cent of the articles were designed by quantitative methods.
