This research was conducted to determine the relationship between the types of music individuals listen to and social and emotional loneliness. The sample of this descriptive study consisted of 209 participants aged 18-35. The data was collected through Google Forms with the Personal Information Form prepared by the researchers and the "Social and Emotional Loneliness Scale for Adults". When the type of music the participants listened to and the scale and subscale mean scores were compared, it was seen that the participants who stated that they listened to arabesque music had a higher score than the participants who stated that they listened to Turkish pop-rock, Turkish rap-hip hop and other types of music (p<0.05). It was observed that the 'social loneliness' subscale mean score of the participants who stated that they worked in the private sector was higher than the other participants, and the 'loneliness-romantic' subscale mean score of the participants with an associate degree was lower than the other participants. Study results show that listening to music has a relationship with participants' social and emotional loneliness. It is recommended that listening to music genres that have a positive effect on social and emotional loneliness be disseminated and individuals be encouraged to listen to this music.
