Abstract
A rise in the aging population has been predicted, and as a result, it is expected that the incidence of agerelated health conditions will also increase. Although common in the elderly, anemia is often mild and asymptomatic and rarely requires hospitalization. However, untreated anemia can be detrimental, because it is associated with increased mortality, fatigue and functional dependence and can lead to cardivascular and neurological complications.

Abstract
Yaşlanan popülasyonun artışı, yaşlanmaya bağlı sağlık sorunlarında artışın olabileceği beklentisini ve öngörüsünü ortaya koymaktadır. Yaşlılarda sık görülen anemi genellikle asemptomiktir ve nadiren hastaneye yatışlara neden olmaktadır. Fakat tedavi edilmeyen anemi mortaliteyi arttırmakta, yorgunluk ve fonksiyonel eksiklikler ile kardiyovasküler ve nörolojik komplikasyonlar sonucu zarar verici olmaktadır.
