Propolisin Antikanser Etkisi

Abstract

Arıların antiseptik ve
antibiyotik özelliklerinden yararlandıkları propolis, bitkilerin tomurcuk ve
salgılarından toplanarak enzimlerle dönüştürülmüş reçinemsi bir maddedir.
Fiziksel yapısı sıcakta yumuşayan, yapışkan, aromatik kokuludur, rengi toplanma
zamanı, toplandığı kaynak ve bölgeye göre değişen, genellikle sarı, yeşil ve
kahverengidir. Kimyasal içeriğinde 300’e yakın kimyasal bileşik olsa da,
bunlardan 180 kadar tanımlanmıştır. Biyolojik aktivitesinin baş aktörleri
flavanoidler ve fenolik asitlerdir. Çağlar ötesinden beri propolis ağız içi ve
sindirim yolu enflamasyonlarında, deri yaralarında, uzun süreli kronik
enflamatuvar rahatsızlıklar başda olmakla birçok rahatsızlığın tedavisinde
kullanılmıştır. İçeriğindeki aktif komponentler olan fenolik asitler ve
flavanoidler serbest radikal temizleme özellikleri, metal şelasyonu ve
enzimatik aktivite modülasyonu gibi farklı biyolojik etkilere sahip olmaları
nedeniyle insan sağlığı için büyük önem taşımaktadırlar. Propolis gelişen
alternatif tıpta insan sağlığı için en önemli maddelerden biri olmakla birlikte
baş ve boyun, beyin ve omurilik, kan, cilt, meme, pankreas, karaciğer, kolon,
prostat, böbrek ve mesane kanserleri gibi birçok kanser türüne karşı etkili olduğu
yapılan çalışmalarla kanıtlanmıştır. Propolisin anti tümör özellikleri,
güçlendirilmiş antioksidan duruma, arttırılmış bağışıklık gözetimine,
proliferasyonun baskılanmasına, kanser kök hücre popülasyonlarındaki azalmaya,
spesifik onkojenik sinyal yollarının tıkanmasına, antianjiyogeneze, tümör
mikroçevresinin modülasyonuna, kemoterapötiklerin geliştirilmesine ve bu
ilaçların neden olduğu yan etkilerin hafifletilmesine dayanmaktadır. Propolisin
kanser önlemde ve kanser tedavisinde etkinliği tartışılmazdır ve belirli
aralıklarla kullanımı kanseri önlemde yardımcı olabilir.
